Raising the Expectation

It started with the simple idea of going out to get frozen yogurt. We pulled up to the shop, and as we walked in excitement and wonder immediately filled the atmosphere.  We sat at the white table beaming as we ate our frozen yogurt, Nichol began to talk to Jessica about Samuel. Pure bliss swept overtook Jessica as she began to talk about her fiancé. It began with the normal squeals and loud giggles, but then she began to talk about expectation. We knew that something was about to be said that was going to totally change the way we thought. We quietly settled into our seats and listening intently as Jessica began to talk to us about dreaming and raising our expectancy from the Lord:

“Expectation is what we need. Everyone needs to raise the expectations toward the lord. I NEVER thought in a million years that I would be where I am, that I would be marrying the man that I’m about to marry. All this starts when we raise our level of expectancy from the Lord. You see, the Lord loves when we raise our expectancy, and believe him to take care of us as well as love us.  We dream at one level and he absolutely loves to take it to the next level, he loves to show himself faithful. It’s just like the yogurt we’re eating now, If we would have only expected to have a small tester cup, with no toppings that is all that we would have gotten. However, we expected more and we got that, because it was what we expected. Jesus loves when we recognize and realize that there’s more, and in turn place a demand and press in for the more.  It’s as simple as that.” Jessica Lauren Cortez

God loves to prove who he says he is. He takes our wildest dreams and fulfills them far above anything we could ever ask or think. It is his nature to make our dreams come true, but if we don’t dream there is nothing for him use to blow our minds and take us to the next level. Dreaming is important at any age and is essential in the times and seasons that we live in.

What is the wildest dream you have, the craziest thing that could ever cross your mind? Even though God is all knowing, something happens when we climb into his lap and whisper our secrets into his ear. Our spirit collides with his and we begin to walk in union with him making our dreams a reality. The time to dream is now, it doesn’t matter what age you are or how small you feel. Just dream, and expect the Lord to be faithful to do what he promised to do.

The Lord Has Done Great Things

Wow… Jesus is just so glorious. He has done great things, but one of the most heart breaking things is the fact that a lot of the time, we don’t recognize or remember all he has done. He has done such great things. We must tell about them, we can’t allow our hearts to become complacent in what has been done, I don’t ever want to stop thanking him for all the things he does.

I write these things with a heart that is heavy with thanksgiving and praise to the only high king. We must shout the goodness of our God to the nations of the earth.

Often times we think of life in days, and each day is a gift is a gift from the Lord. Can I challenge you? I would like to propose to you that each second is a gift from God. Every breathe that I have taken and will take is a gift from the uncreated one. We have so much, it’s so beautiful. My heart experiances deep delight at the fact that I have the honor and the priviledge of experiancing this.

You guys… we have air to fill our lungs. Do we ever just take a moment and think of this concept? Air… really? This was a plan who came from the one who never changes, the one who was and is to come. He holds the stars in his hands, and he knows them all by name. He measures the waters in the hollow of his hand. He measures the length of the heavens, by his arm span. He streaches out the heavens like a curtain… like a curtain. Heaven is his throne and earth is his footstool.  He laid the foundations of the earth. He kept the sea in it’s boundries as it came from the womb. He commands the morning to come, and causes dawn to rise in the east.

Our God is a great God, his glory is matched by no other. His strength and wisdom can never be matched. Yet he chooses to love us. In our weakness, in our shame; he chooses to pull us out of that place and bring us to a place of sonship. He takes our mourning and turns it into dancing. He restores the soul. He is the redeemer, the beginning and the end. He takes mourning and turns it into joyful shouting. Who is like Him? He shouts to the clouds and makes it rain. He gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind. He tilts the water jars of heaven to water the earth. This is just the beginning of who our God is. He is so great, there is such a greater reality.

This isn’t even a dent into who God is or the reality that he has hidden for us. So today i will leave you with the words of Solomon, one of the wisest who ever lived: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the honor of kings to search it out.”

Love in all it’s purity

Sitting in the presence of a 3 year old and an 11 year old is so loud. It’s hard to think at times and so easy to get annoyed, but I’m so filled with a love that passes all understanding that it doesn’t even matter. My heart is full of a longing that can only ever be satisfied in the presence of a king. It doesn’t matter how hard I try to resist or fill it with something else, he is unrelenting. He so longs for my heart, it’s crazy. He is the only person who could ever truly satisfy the longing in my heart, as well as the heart of everyone everywhere else.

I’m beginning to understand the way that Jesus yearns for the church. The way that he longs to see his bride(church) come to a full understanding of his love, and to love and serve him from this place. Jesus is such a lover, he knows all the desires of all hearts. If we long to know him then he will prove himself faithful. He wouldn’t put a desire or a longing in our hearts to know him if he wasn’t going to show us. I can’t even begin to explain the love that Jesus has for us. I can’t even explain the love that he pours out on me. Sometimes I’m spending time with him, and it is so sweet it comes to a point where food or sleep is the last thing that I need, my hearts only desire is to be with him.

The love of Jesus is so pure, he longs for your soul. He longs for your whole heart, and if you ask him he will pursue you, and love you. it doesn’t matter what you have done, or what you think that you have done. HE LOVES YOU. He knew that you were going to do that before he formed the foundations of the earth, but he still chose to love you. It’s all for love. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have this or it hasn’t been revealed to you yet, just ask. Jesus longs to show himself faithful, as well as show himself as a lover. He will never let you down, that’s just not in his character.

So Jesus I ask that you would manifest your love in the hearts of everyone who reads this. That their hearts would be set on fire to the reality of your love. That you would plant love in their hearts and together you and them would begin to cultivate it and bring it to full term. Reveal yourself Jesus do what you love to do and just come. Baptize our hearts in new love, and don’t stop pursuing us until we are one with you, and we learn to abide in your love. Thank you so much for hearing me. I love you, Amen.

Redigging the Well

Today at school we were talking about evangelism, and how that when we go out to the streets to Evangelize that we should be leaking Christ where ever we go. The reason being that when we have Jesus we have streams of living water and we need to release those streams to those people of the world.

This is the way that I feel about love. When we come to Christ there is an abundance of love that we inherit through abiding in him. There is so much available, that if we ever experianced it all, we would die. We physically wouldn’t be able to handle it. Take a minute and let that reality soak into the pours of your spirit man.

In Ephesians 3 Paul says “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and make you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experiance the love of Christ, though it’s to great to fully understand. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

So we should ask for god to show us the length, the width, the depth, and the heighth of love, even though we will never totally be able to understand it. That is so crazy, this love isn’t some nice little passive thing. This love is passionate, and He longs to see his love poured out to the world. The scripture clearly states that when we have this love in our lives, even a small reality of it this is the place that life and power flows out of. We as the church in America need to be possesed. Possesed by the love of God, and that love would be the driving factor of our lives. His love would be the only motivation that we need to take Jesus to the world. The simple fact that Jesus cares about the unsaved just as much as he cares about us should drive us to contend for souls and to love the unlovable.

I have a dream in my heart that one day the church will embrace selfless love. That we would love people unconditionally, and whether they loved us back wouldn’t matter. We are called to be like Jesus, and Jesus loved and loves those who don’t love him. So wouldn’t we be called to love like that? Love is all the world needs, The Beatles were really on to something when they wrote “All You Need Is Love”. Because that is all the world needs, but they don’t need the false love that is being offered. They need the all fulfilling love that only comes from the uncreated one, the one who was before time even thought about beginning. That is what we as a people saved and unsaved alike need in this hour.

it’s all for love

What would the church look like if we got the revelation that everything that we do is all for love. I’m not talking about the love that offers a pat on the back and a “Jesus Loves you”. I’m talking about life changing gut wrenching, makes you weep everytime you think about it love. What would it look like if we all had this deep internal revelation of the love of God? Because the reality of it is, for too long we have know that God loves us and believed it in our heads but we don’t know it in our hearts. If we had the revelation of the love of God and what he really says about us we wouldn’t do or say more than half of the things we do. When He askes us not to do things, we wouldn’t do them because the love that we feel for him is so strong that it clouds out all desire for things that are not of Him. We would know that God loves eveyone unconditionally, and He wants His love poured out to ALL people and ALL nations. Not just the ones that we deem acceptable. Knowing the love of the father is vital for the hour that we live in, and when we get a fresh revelation or a fresh baptism, everything changes. It litterally will change the whole way that we see and do life. It is what the modern day church is so desperately in need of. I belive with all my heart that God is going to restore radical love back to his church. That we’re are going to begin to see people on the street and feel his heart for them. The Radical lovers of God are going to begin to rise up and take it out to the streets and we’re going to see one of the greatest moves of the Lord in history.

There is so much more… all we have to do ask, and believe that he hears us 100% of the time.
